14 Members of LRA Ukulele Club (LRA UC) took to the road on Sunday 23rd April (St George’s Day) to play the club’s first ever “GIG”.  It was held at Holcroft Grange Residential Home in Culcheth and was a resounding success.

The room was packed.  LRA UC played for well over an hour and the residents of Holcroft Grange joined in with the singing.  There was even a spot of unprompted dancing going on.

The LRA UC was only formed at the end of January 2017 and most of the members had never lifted a ukulele before then!!!  To have progressed to the point where they could mount a (very successful) gig, in such a short time, speaks volumes for their enthusiasm and commitment and reflects the fun that they get from playing and singing at the weekly club sessions.

It was an absolute pleasure for the Club to play for the residents of Holcroft Grange, a lovely residential home in the centre of Culcheth.  After the session LRA UC were served tea and had to promise to come again as soon as possible.  The thanks and feedback they received were warm and touching and included:-

“We would have you here every week if we could”

“You are the best we’ve ever had”

“I loved the sing-along and welcomed something different to do”, and

A big hug and a kiss for one of the players.

This was the first GIG by LRA UC, but more will follow as the group shares its enjoyment of playing and singing with other similar venues in the local area.

A very good time was had by all.
