On Thursday 26th January, LRA played host to the “Rock-a-Hulas”, members of the University of the Third Age (U3A) Ukulele Club. They played and led us in a “strum-along” and a good old singsong. We all joined in and it reminded us all just how much fun it is to make your own entertainment.
The U3A has been a great help in LRA starting up the club. On the night they generously brought some of their ukuleles and music sheets for us to use.
Around 45 people came out on a cold, January night! A great turnout.
This session with the U3A showed us something to aim for. It may take a bit of time but the “journey” will be fun.
All the feedback has been very positive and encouraging for the future of the club. From it, it is clear that everyone had a really good time and the session cemented their commitment to sticking with the ukulele. A couple of examples:-
“Another excellent session, well done & a great bunch from the U3A, a superb evening, even my non-singing wife had a thoroughly good night. I may even be able to talk her into having a go!!!!!!!.”
“Thanks. It was a good night on Thursday – I can’t wait until our group can play like that together. See you next week.”
