Their fame spreads, as does their “Service to the Community”.

On Sunday 11th February, 14 members of the D’Ukes of Longbarn ventured across the border into Yorkshire, to play their first gig of 2018.

They braved rotten weather; rain, sleet, hail and snow with the odd spell of sunshine thrown in, to perform for the residents of Britannia Care Home, Bradford.  The Britannia provides care covering the following categories: Dementia, Mental Health Condition, Old Age and Physical Disability.

The residents, and staff, clearly enjoyed the performance.  They joined in with singing the songs and there was even some dancing, with many calls for encores.  The smiles on their faces made the trek over to Bradford well worthwhile, for both the audience and the D’Ukes.

After the performance the D’Ukes adjourned to The Mumtaz Indian restaurant to sample their curries.  Well they couldn’t go to Bradford and not have a curry could they?

The next gig will be on 25th February, when the D’Ukes will return, for the third time, to Heathercroft Care Home on Longbarn Lane, Woolston.
