LRA’s Ukulele Club, aka “The D’Ukes of Longbarn”, played two more gigs recently.  The group who play/sing is made up of whoever is available on the day and feels like joining in.  Very relaxed.

The venues were both local Care Homes and “the D’Ukes” played to help brighten up the Sunday afternoons of the residents with a sing-along of selected songs that the residents were likely to remember.

The first of the two gigs was on 15 October at Heathercroft Care Home, Longbarn Lane, Woolston.  Heathercroft provides care to residents who require general nursing or personal and social care.

This was the second time that “the D’Ukes” had played at Heathercroft and they were welcomed back like old friends.

It’s easy to see that the residents really enjoy the entertainment and throw themselves into it, singing along and dancing.  they probably enjoy the sessions as much as the members of “the D’Ukes” do – though it might be a close run thing.

The second gig was at Birch Court, Egerton Street, Howley.
