Fireworks Night 4 November 2016
Even though “the weather gods” weren’t smiling, the crowd certainly was.
Once again, the Fireworks Night Party was a great success for Longbarn, with a roughly estimated 800 to 1,000 people turning up to watch and enjoy the display, the burgers, hot-dogs, cakes. hot drinks and even the music provided by our very own DJ (“Teknow*Man”, aka Dermott Lappin) .
Despite the weather, Allan Bradshaw and his team of intrepid fireworks masters battled the elements to give us another fabulous show. Well done you guys and gals. Much appreciated.
Thanks are also due to our good friends from Greencore who provided and cooked the burgers and hot-dogs. They worked so hard and the grub was delicious.
Most importantly, LRA would sincerely like to thank everyone who braved the rain showers for coming along and for taking the short delay in the start of the display with such good humour. Everyone recognised that fireworks and rain are not natural good friends. The crowd made all the efforts worthwhile.
Finally, and at risk of sounding like a script from an awards ceremony, the LRA Social Committee would like to thank the resident volunteers who put in a good deal of work to plan and stage the event, and for cleaning up and packing away afterwards in one of the worst downpours of the day.
All in all, a great night, a superb team effort and another feather in the cap for Longbarn.
See you next year.
P.S. Did you see the double rainbow over Longbarn on the afternoon before the display? Looked like a sign that the rain was going to stop didn’t it? You don’t have to be told that it didn’t!!
