The D’Ukes – full team

On Sunday 9 September 2018 the D’Ukes of Longbarn, over 20 players and singers from Longbarn’s own ukulele club, entertained the crowd at Woolston Show.  This is the second year in a row that the group has performed at the show and they were very pleased to help make the show a success again.

The following “clip” is from the Facebook page of the Friends of Longbarn Park

“A very busy day today at the show but a very enjoyable one. My thanks to all my colleagues; all of whom are volunteers who helped with the organisation of today’s event. The Friends recruited another volunteer and the Young Friends who ran a marvellous stall recruited five more interested children.

So many highlights; the Duck Herder, Morris Men, Fair and the Falconry display drew huge crowds and the land train and circus skills entertainer proved very popular. I particularly enjoyed the DUkes of Longbarn Ukulele Band who I felt were superb.

A big thank you from all the Friends to all of the public who supported the day.”

The D’Ukes played a variety of songs, inviting the audience to sing along, which they did.

For the first time in public, the group played the “heavy metal” classic Ace of Spades made famous by Motorhead.  Playing this number is part of a charity challenge that the D’Ukes have taken up to raise funds for St Rocco’s.  Well over £500 is resting on them delivering an acceptable performance.
