LIST OF ACHIEVEMENTS

 

Longbarn Residents’ Association was started in 2012 and in November 2016 was granted Charitable Status (Charity no. 1170309). We are a thriving Organisation well known in Warrington and meet on a 6-weekly basis with Committee meetings 2 weeks prior.  These Meetings are well attended and we are working hard to improve the Longbarn Area.  We have several high profile achievements already –

 

1. Hippos Play Area (£52k)
2. Now working to fund another Play Area in Fallowfield Grove (£63k)
3. Issue 6-weekly of 1000 copies of Community Information Leaflet
4. Calendar Monthly Litter Picks
5. Removal of disused Rediffusion Community Aerial
6. Annual Fireworks Extravaganza (November)
7. Annual Scarecrow competition (August)
8. Annual Community Fun Day (May/June)
9. Annual Children’s and Adult’s Christmas Parties

10.Annual Christmas Dinner for Afternoon Tea participants –

    Provided by Greencore Foods

11.Removal of “Pink Bridge” & issues about replacement pathway

12.Purchase of Lawn mower and weekly grass cutting throughout the season by residents

13.Re-positioning of Post Box on Harpers Road

14.North West in Bloom – Level 5 (Outstanding) achieved in 2016                    

  & 2017 with an application for 2018 already made

15.Granting of Charitable Status – November 2016

16.Annual display of Spring Bulbs and Flowers in Roadside Planters

17.Fortnightly Afternoon Tea for the elderly & housebound

18.Six-weekly Quiz Nights

19.Established Ukulele Group

20.Subsidised Quarterly Coach Trips for Residents to improve

    community spirit

22.Lottery Grants secured for both 2015/16 and 2016/17

23.Acquisition of area of Land from WBC for a new Play Area in

  Fallowfield Grove

24.Bus Stops & Shelters – Harpers Road & Station Road South

25.Training of Committee to be more effective at “Away Days” –

  the first held on 19/02/2017

26.Worked with Lane End Developments to achieve an acceptable

   Scheme for the re-development of the Bayleaf Site on Harpers

  Road (including the Bowling Green as an Asset of Community

  Value) which has been granted Planning Permission as Harpers

   Green, a block of over 55’s Extra Care apartments.      

27.We work together with Greencore Foods on all sorts of

    schemes affecting residents and currently in obtaining an

    acceptable re-development scheme of £35m value that has

    gained Planning Approval, without objections, saving 600+ jobs

28.We are currently working with Asda Birchwood as they help us

    carry out the work with the Friday Afternoon Tea event

29.Establishment of “Friends of Padgate Station” to improve

    Padgate Station which is a “Gateway” to North East

    Warrington – already had some success and fund raising (in

    conjunction with the Rail Franchisee) to start the process

30.Established 5 Sub Committees to work closely with the Land

    Trust, WBC, Social Housing providers, Greencore Foods & to

    provide Social Events for Longbarn

31.In the absence of Litter Bins on Harpers Road and in order to

   improve the area we have purchased 4 Litter Bins from WBC

   which the Council will install and maintain.

   32.We have had the offer of a Donation of a Roadside Bench to

        Improve Harpers Road – should be delivered at the beginning

        of April 2017

   33.Improved parking in Fallowfield Grove in co-operation with

        New Horizons School

   34.Zebra Crossings on Harpers Road

   35.Liasion with Active Cheshire to provide activities for the over

        55’s to keep them active

   36.PCSO attends our six weekly meetings providing reports and

        Keeping residents informed

   37.Close liaison with Warrington Voluntary Action – to provided

        Advice & Training services

   38.Borough Councillors & Parish Councillors attend our meetings

        And activities with support & advice

   39. Double Yellow Lines have now been laid on Harpers Road to  

         Prevent dangerous parking from adjacent business premises.

   40. Container has now been purchased and located at the PVC to

         Store items belonging to LRA.

 

We now have a permanent Base (an Office on the first floor of Padgate Library)out of which Longbarn Residents’ Association can operate.  It is now possible to work professionally rather than to continue to work out of residents homes and to use their personal equipment.
