LRA’s own Ukulele Club, the D’Ukes of Longbarn, successfully played another GIG today (3rd Sept 2017) at WOOLSTON SHOW.
Despite the clash of dates with LRA’s coach-trip to Llandudno, a dozen of the club members turned out on a somewhat miserable afternoon – this was to support Woolston Show, but it was obvious they all enjoyed performing for the very appreciative audience.
They sounded really good and got a lot of very positive feedback and comments from the listeners – “just brilliant” was the one I liked most. There were lots of faces with big smiles and people joined in with the singing.
The group was approached after the session and I’m told
– One lady wants to “book us” for a performance at the Community Centre next to Padgate Station (some time in November when they are holding some big community event),
– Another lady, who is a carer for a lady with dementia, enjoyed it and was interested in bringing her along to the club just to join in the singing because, as she said, singing is a great activity for dementia sufferers,
– One disappointed “punter” had only caught the last couple of numbers and was asking when we were on again that afternoon – cue sad face
– The stallholders in the marquee all said how much they enjoyed it.
The club continues to go from strength to strength.
Rock on Longbarn
