The DUKES OF LONGBARNA very special and unusual challenge has been issued to the D’Ukes of Longbarn, our very own ukulele club.

Lee Karellen, a D’Uke himself, brought the challenge to the club.  It is for the D’Ukes to perform, with evidence, a recognisable version of Ace of Spades, the heavy-metal classic by Motorhead.

The challenger, Jamie Stemp, a neighbour of Lee’s, will then give £100 to the D’Ukes to pass on to a charity of their choice (St Rocco’s will be the recipients).

The D’Ukes are already thinking what they can do to raise additional funds to add to Jamie’s very generous pledge.

How could the D’Ukes not accept the challenge?

Everyone at the club is confident that they can meet the challenge, even though playing the number provides them with a few playing challenges and that it takes them into a musical genre with which they are unfamiliar.  They also know it will be great fun to do.

If you don’t know the Ace of Spades, or you want to understand why this is an unusual challenge, follow the link below to watch Motorhead’s performance

The Ace of Spades has been done on the ukulele before, and the following link shows it being performed by another ukulele group, Sam Brown’s Ukulele Club of Sonning Common.  Great fun.
