LRA has issued the following statement regarding progress on addressing the problem of DANGEROUS PARKING ON HARPERS ROAD:-
“LRA have been working very hard to solve this problem. At a meeting held on Monday 29th January 2018 LRA agreed to an experimental Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) so that its effects can be monitored. A TRO can be operational for up to 18 months and it’s easier to amend or remove than it would be if the restrictions were implemented on a permanent basis. During an experimental order, formal objections/support can be received within the first 6 months of operation. Therefore, after a minimum of 6 months, the Council will consider the feedback received and will meet again with LRA, the Police and other stakeholders to decide whether to make the restrictions permanent, whether to amend them or whether additional measures are necessary.
The Council will rely heavily on feedback from local residents regarding whether the restrictions are working as intended. Once the restrictions are up and running, feedback can be sent to trafficmanagement@warrington.gov.uk
The legal process should start by 9th February 2018, the restrictions could be in and operational by the end of March 2018. However, this will be weather permitting and the Council may also need assistance from the Police in order to ensure the area is clear of parked vehicles when the road lining contractors attend on site.
Both the Council and the Police have been left knowing that LRA will be back for further restrictions if these initial restrictions do not work.
Further meetings are to be held with regard to providing more car parking on the Olympic Park site and members will be updated as soon as these have been held. This matter will be an agenda item at the next Residents Meeting at 7:30pm on Thursday 22nd February 2018 held in the Padgate Village Club. Residents can contact LRA about this important issue by using the Contact us page on the website.”
