Northwest in Bloom 2017

TO ALL MEMBERS OF LONGBARN RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION

Volunteer helpers are invited to help us get in final shape for this year’s competition.

LRA has now been notified that the judging itinerary for this year’s Northwest in Bloom competition, means that Longbarn will be judged on Wednesday 28th June 2017.

This is about 4 weeks earlier than last year.  The schedule required for us to be ready by this earlier date means that we will have to arrange sessions on Harpers Road, meeting at the Embankment at 10am on 27th May, 3rd June, 10th June, 17th June and 24th June.

Other sessions will take place on each Wednesday 31st May, 7th June, 14th June and 21st June from 1pm on Harpers Road.

Any time that you can give would be very helpful – we usually stay out for about 2 hours.  The more members that help the easier the job becomes.  Tea and biscuits are provided.

The new plants for the Planters have been ordered and we now await delivery.

There is still lots of clearing up to be done on the grass verges and the footpaths.  To this end can I ask as many of you as possible make arrangements to attend these sessions so that we are in a good position when the judging date arrives.

It would be helpful if those who volunteer to cut the grass continue with this work as often as possible.  We need to cut all grassed areas at least once a week if possible.

Your continued help with these tasks is/would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Geoff Orange    (LRA Chairman).
