An update from LRA –

Longbarn Residents’ Association continues working hard together with the NCA, Police, WBC and Local Councillors to solve the dangerous parking problem at the east end of Harpers Road, caused by workers in the Olympic Park site.

A copy of a recent letter from the Police is attached for your information, follow the link :

The latest position is that a meeting has been arranged for the LRA Committee to meet with the various representatives on Monday 29th January 2018.

WBC have already agreed that Double Yellow Lines could be the answer for Harpers Road but the Committee are mindful that the cars will find parking somewhere else and are seeking restrictions to the side roads to prevent moving the problem into the side roads.  This is proving very much more difficult to achieve.

Following the meeting next Monday residents will be informed of the decision reached.

Web-Editor’s (personal) addition-

Everyone is feeling the frustration with the DANGEROUS parking and there have been reports of many “near misses”!!!

A good many people have said “If WBC and the Police had accepted LRA’s request for Harpers Road to be made Access Only, we wouldn’t have this problem”.

Also, a common feeling that is “It feels like the reply given by every public body nowadays is negative and blamed on lack of funds and the need for cost cutting.  We’re ALL having to deal with rising costs and reduced income.  It reminds us of the story of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”, after a while you lose patience and ignore the bleating!”.
