For many weeks now, motorists and pedestrians travelling along Harpers Road have been frustrated and angered by what most people consider to be thoughtless, dangerous parking by people visiting one of the office blocks on Grange Avenue.

These people who should know better use the east end of Harpers Road as a car park.  They leave their cars all day, near to, and straddling the mouth of Blackburne Close.  The line of cars goes almost to the bend in Harpers Rd.  This causes all sorts of problems, making it very difficult to see oncoming traffic, no matter which direction you travel, and it makes getting into Blackburne a nightmare.  It is understood that this indiscriminate parking has already led to one significant accident.

Members of LRA have been trying to sort this problem out.  Apparently, under the eyes of the law, these drivers are doing nothing illegal!

However, some progress has been made.  Warrington Borough Council has drawn up a proposal to restrict parking at the east end of Harpers Road.  LRA sees this as a very positive step, but remains worried that the inconsiderate parkers may change to using the roads off Harpers Road as their car park.  Discussions with the Police and WBC are ongoing.

You will be kept up-to-date on any significant changes.
